Our solicitors represent many of the UK's largest insurers, providing insurance law advice and representation in all types of insurance related matters. Additionally, we act for a number of underwriters, syndicates, brokers and adjusters.

HBM Sayers' senior litigation partners, George Moore and Allan Crawford, are particularly well known for their expertise in insurance law. George Moore is described in Chambers as "an obvious name" and Allan Crawford as "an able insurance lawyer".

They, along with three other partners, are qualified as Solicitor Advocates with full rights of audience in all Courts to the highest level. Apart from providing clients with choice of representation, this has the advantage of speed, efficiency and economy, particularly in relation to written pleadings.

George Moore was appointed a QC in 2003, one of only three solicitor advocate QC's in Scotland.

In recent years the insurance sector has grown substantially in Ireland and the International Financial Services Centre has become established as a base for a large number of life and non-life insurers offering insurance products in the European Union. The regulation of the sector has also seen significant change with the transfer of responsibility for regulation to the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority.
